Been in the non-denominational all my life and in different churches even, never been shamed. Actually, it's been the opposite. Yes, churches that in fact would look like pharisees if that sketch were put over them, are not Christian churches, by any theological calculation. They are technically not biblical. It is unfortunate that children are exposed to this trauma, but it is unjust to say the blanket term "church" when "church" is not the problem, it's uneducated people who think they are pastors. Christ has given gifts which form "the church" in plain English - Ephesians 4:11 (right under our noses in plain daylight - obviously "English" was a joke). If it does not emulate Christ, do you really think it's biblical? Does it not make more sense to say someone is not a cook, than to say all restaurants are bad? Jesus = head of the church; not, incorrect human concepts = head of the church. Jesus is the only definition of what a church looks like. When a person associates a church with an issue they are actually making others put that label on Christ. In the minds of humans Jesus will always be associated with the word "church" - why? Because He's the dictionary definition of God... ha-ha. Churches need to be exposed individually. Example: "pastor so-and-so does an f-ing bad job at everything". They are not part of my religion and never will be. Their common sense and reasoning capabilities are low. If they lack basic spiritual gifts, they are not spiritual leaders. Simple. And easy to remember. Now, what are spiritual gifts? That's the good stuff. Last thing, sorry. One more analogy. A Special Forces instructor teaches combat skills, not teaches "hey all, the only thing I'm teaching for the rest of my life is what happens when you mess up and get your whole team killed".
